Disruptive innovations are leading to new ways of delivering applications and services. Enterprises and CSPs will find it difficult to navigate unknown territory. We have experience captializing on these new opportunities.
Case Study 1: Future of Utilities: Smart Grid Network Transformation for large US utility
Challenge: How do we migrate from a non-robust wide area network (WAN) over a commercial network to a highly reliable and high performance WAN over utility fiber infrastructure?
Methodology: We architected a future-mode smart grid network architecture based on a network design tested by Bell Labs, designed to support operations technology and IT applications, designed to suport both regulated and unregulated parts of the utility’s business, and uses previously underutilized utility network resources as part of the network backbone. This eliminated purpose-built disparate networks.
Value Creation: Our architecture made a private IP/MPLS network more robust, efficient and cost-effective than that typically provided by commercial operators to support all current & future smartgrid needs.
Case Study 2: Future of Public Safety: Network Transformation Strategy for an Asia-Pacific agency
Challenge: Should we base our Public Safety Mobile Broadband (PSMB) strategy on private soutions, commercial MNO-based solutions, or a commercial-private hybrid?
Methodology: We compared public safety mobile broadband network deployment alternatives and appraised rollout options for a mission critical public safety LTE network for 5 public safety and emergency agencies within the agency's region. We compared different investment scenarios with public or private LTE in different bands.
Value Creation: We demonstrated that a private LTE network in the 450 MHz band is most technically optimal and cost-effective.
Case Study 3: Future of Transport Roadmap for a Western European Public Transport networking organization
Challenge: How can we improve the resiliency of our network with 6,000 locations across 15 countries and with 2 datacenters?
Methodology: We conducted a network architecture audit, with a focus on risk mitigation and quantified the current maturity of operations against our Bell Labs index across 5 innovation dimensions. We developed a recommendation roadmap with medium and long term actions, quantifying impact on network future-proofness.
Value Creation: We provided organization repositioning recommendations to leverage virtualization and automation opportunities and a 5 year roadmap with over 40 actions to close maturity gaps.
